Bridges Inaugurates La Guama Primary School

April 2, 2022

More than two years after Bridges to Community broke ground on this project with international volunteers, we are thrilled to share that we've concluded the construction of the primary school in our partner community of La Guama, San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic.

Eight Bridges to Community board members were able to celebrate the school inauguration in conjunction with teachers, students, government representatives, and officials from the Ministry of Education to mark the occasion. This school highlights our ongoing efforts to bring impactful projects to our community partners and begins a new chapter for students and teachers alike to learn and work in a dignified education center.

During the event, Bridges to Community Co-Chair Kyle Kirchhoff shared, "The last two years have created many obstacles for all of us, but...we come together today to celebrate the completion of a project that symbolizes the dedication of this community to the education of current and future generations of La Guama. The completion of this project also marks an important milestone in the history of Bridges to Community, a new chapter in our mission of service-learning and continuing to build strong ties with communities in the DR."

Bridges to Community is grateful to our current and past Board of Directors, staff, community leaders, donors, volunteers, and friends of Bridges to Community for making this project possible.
