How Our Trips Work

Our in-person trips are a week-long opportunity to work and live in a community in the Dominican Republic while you participate in our integrated community programming.

Bridges to Community volunteer trips have two price components: the project cost and the volunteer trip fee.  Both must be fundraised for and/or paid in full 6 weeks before the trip is scheduled to travel.

The project cost covers the project coordination, materials, and staffing for your trip. The cost can be covered by the participating volunteers or by fundraising. Full payment of the project cost guarantees your trip itinerary. Bridges is unable to run the trip if we have not received project payment in full 6 weeks before you come to the Dominican Republic, even if you have paid your volunteer trip fee.

The project cost covers:

  • Organization of project with community leaders

  • Coordination of project

  • Project equipment, supplies, and tools

  • Experienced and qualified team of program leaders and translators 24/7

  • The construction of a dignified home for a deserving family

The volunteer trip fee is the individual cost per volunteer on a trip. This includes:

  • Comprehensive trip planning, pre-departure information, and support

  • Fundraising support, including a fundraising webpage and additional materials to use for outreach

  • Airport welcome and transfers to and from the airport in the Dominican Republic

  • Private transport to the project and R&R locations

  • All meals and accommodations throughout the trip

  • In-country medical insurance

  • First aid kits on the worksite, CPR-certified staff, unlimited purified water

  • Beach trip and overnight stay

  • An experience and connection you will not soon forget!
