July 13-20, 2024

July 20-27, 2024

Join us for a week and dive into the community, culture, cuisine, and Caribbean beauty of the Dominican Republic!

Come and participate in a week-long trip (Saturday-Saturday) that will have a lifelong impact. You’ll support the development of a community by working on a needed project, such as bathrooms, house repairs, or house construction.

While you’re in the DR, you’ll live and work in the rural community that you’ll be helping. Lodging is a co-ed community center with indoor bathrooms and shower stalls. You’ll be provided 3 delicious meals a day, prepared by our team of local Dominican cooks.

Project activities include mixing cement, cutting and tying rebar, painting, and laying cinderblock. You’ll also participate in community exchanges, learn about Dominican culture, explore the local community and landscapes, and end the week with an overnight trip to the beach!

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

You'll be met at the Santo Domingo airport (SDQ) by Bridges staff and transported to a hotel in Santo Domingo city, where we will stay the first night in the historic Colonial Zone.

Day 2

After breakfast and an orientation, we'll travel by private bus to the San Juan province (approx. 3.5 hours), stopping for lunch on the way. Once in the community, we will settle into our dorm accommodations and take a tour. Dinner is at 6 pm, prepared by our cooks.

Day 3 - 6

Each workday begins with breakfast at 7 am. From 8 am -12 pm, we carry out an aspect of a project. After a 2-hour lunch and rest break, we'll continue our work from 2 pm to approximately 4 pm. Dinner is at 6 pm, followed by an evening activity or cultural exchange.

Day 7

After breakfast, we'll head to a beach resort in Juan Dolio for the night, where you can swim in the beautiful turquoise waters of the Caribbean and get some well-deserved rest and relaxation. This hotel is located 40 minutes from the airport for any early flights.

Day 8

Time to say our goodbyes, our time together has come to an end! You will be dropped off at the airport by Bridges staff 2.5 hours before your scheduled flight with plenty of time to get through security and customs.
