Trip Costs

The trip fee for a standard nine-day Bridges trip in 2012 is $1,295 plus airfare. This fee covers all your costs while on the trip, and it also helps us pay for our staff, our equipment, and for our offices, both in Nicaragua and New York. We're engaged year-round in the planning, training, and coordination that makes it possible to provide volunteers with the kind of experience they have on a Bridges trip, and your fees help support our total effort.

The costs of the projects you'll work on while you're in Nicaragua, however, are not covered by your trip fees. Most of those costs are paid for by donations from individuals, foundations, corporations, and grants. As you can see on our projects page, we engage in a wide variety of projects, so if you wanted to contribute, there are lots ways you can help. We encourage groups travelling with us to engage in some kind of fundraising to support one or more of our projects.

Bridges to Community is a registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, so the fees you pay for a Bridges trip may qualify for a U.S. federal income tax deduction. You will receive an official acknowledgement from Bridges for your contribution, but if you have any questions about the deductibility, we recommend you consult with a tax professional.
