Young People Making a Difference:
Jack Webster is a 9 year old student. Moved by the efforts of
his mother, Valerie Webster, and her coworkers at The Flanders Group,
in fundraising to sponsor a new home for a Nicaraguan family, Jack
decided that he too wanted to make a positive impact.
Instead of receiving gifts for his birthday, he asked that everyone
donate to Bridges to change the destiny of the lives of other children.
In a letter to Bridges, Jack stated that he plans to continue to
contribute to the betterment of the lives of others by recycling cans
to help save money, because "every bit helps!!!"
Thank You for Making Our Spring Gala a Success!
Thanks to all of the volunteers, workers, and staff who helped to make our Spring Gala such a success!
And extra special thanks to the sponsors, donors, and attendees who came! It was great to see you there,
and thank you for your support! We're looking forward to another exciting year at Bridges, made possible
by your support.
Bridges and NYC's Hit-Radio Station Z-100!
New York City Hit Radio Station Z-100 personalities Carolina Bermudez and Tom Poleman

Women's Trip with Bridges
October 18-26
This fall, Bridges to Community will host a special "women only" trip to Nicaragua.
The women's group will stay in the farming community of Papayal located just outside
of Managua and in the heart of one of the the largest free-trade zones in Nicaragua.
The group will work side by side with local families in the construction of a home
and planting of a communal garden. If funding is available, female community leaders
from the Bridges Siuna site will live and work with the group all week, creating a third
dimension of cross-cultural exchange between North Americans and community members from
different regions of NIcaragua. In the afternoon, educational and cross-cultural
activities will take place including discussions with women working in sweat shops,
women health leaders, and women working in fair trade companies. Translators will be
available to ensure open cross-cultural communication between Nicaraguan and North
American women.
For more information, please contact group leader Mary Jennings.
